What is follicular unit transplantation (FUT)?

It is a surgical procedure that uses the follicular units of 1 to 4 hairs (natural occurring) from the back and sides of the head, which will be placed in the recipient area in an artistic and natural design. The FUT technique will use the donor strip (DS) and/or the FUE technique to extract the hair grafts. The Spain hair Transplantation TEAM uses the MICROSCOPE for dissecting and evaluating all the grafts of the surgery case.

What is the follicular unit extraction technique (FUE)?

It is one of two surgical techniques for donor harvesting. The FUE technique uses tiny punches (.6- 1 mm) to extract the follicular units (grafts) one by one, then a well trained and experienced hair surgeon can create an artistic and natural design in the recipient area. The FUE technique is only one of the hair transplant surgery steps and must be performed by the surgeon. All the grafts obtained with the FUE technique are evaluated in the MICROSCOPE for quality and integrity purposes.

We perform a slow infiltration technique designed to minimize discomfort. Pain medication is always offered when necessary. Most of the patients find hair transplant surgery much easier to handle than going to the dentist.

Are hair transplants permanent?

Yes, since the hair transplanted in surgery comes from patient’s own donor area (back and sides of the head). These areas are not susceptible to baldness and will retain its own characteristics after being placed in the recipient areas. Hair will grow and continue to grow as normal and healthy hair for the rest of your life.

Will my transplanted hair require special care?
